Research Analyst

The Research Analyst is a crucial member of Visit Orlando’s Market Research & Insights Team, who actively supports organization by collecting, monitoring and summarizing market intelligence and trends relating to Orlando travel market. You have passion for data, lists, logic, and structure. You enjoy working in an extremely fast-paced and ever-changing environment. You thrive on deadlines and juggling multiple projects. You think learning something new and complex is fun. You have strong communication and writing skills. You share our love of all things Orlando travel.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Produce standard reports including State of the Industry, annual visitor profiles, country dashboards, and other reports.
  • Maintain a variety of destination inventory databases and reports, including existing and upcoming hotel inventory, timeshare, vacation rental and restaurant databases.
  • Manage the Research section of the Visit Orlando website and member portal.
  • Monitor and gather industry-related trend data (Future Partners, Longwoods, Skift, Outbound Canada, MMGY) and deliver to end-users in a summarized format both as part of scheduled reporting and per ad hoc requests.
  • Assist in the execution of in-house web-based survey projects.  Responsibilities may include programming, distribution of survey invitations, tabulating results, and writing summary reports.
  • Assist with larger custom studies with various quality assurance processes, including programming testing, text analytics, and proofreading of the reports.
  • Maintain department’s speaking engagement slide library.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for travel statistics from internal clients, Visit Orlando members and partners, as well as general public.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; up to 3 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business reports, professional journals, and governmental documents.  Ability to effectively communicate, both in written form (i.e. reports, business correspondence, etc.) and verbal form (i.e. presentations, meetings, etc.) with internal and external stakeholders. 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, means, medians, etc.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency and distribution.

Computer Skills

  • Medium to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with PowerQuery and PowerBI a plus.
  • Knowledge of survey software and/or statistical software a plus (e.g. Qualtrics, Forsta, Q Research, SPSS).

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to identify patterns in data sets. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

The environment for this job is typical for an office and does not result in exposure to conditions outside of the normal office environment.
