Public Relations Representative - LATAM

Job Summary

Supports Visit Orlando’s Global communications department with a focus on LATAM markets to help position Orlando as a leading destination to audiences through media and influencer programs. This position reports to the Public Relations Senior Manager – LATAM.

Location

We operate on a hybrid work model, which requires employees to be in the Orlando office at least twice a week.

Major Areas of Accountability

  1. Supports outreach efforts to generate media interest and increase coverage of Orlando, Visit Orlando and its members.
  2. Provides support to journalists and influencers, including researching outlets and social channels, recommending story angles and assisting with written materials, photography and b-roll needs.
  3. Assists with the planning, coordination and execution of group and individual press trips, including the development of itineraries for both traditional media and influencers.
  4. Supports the development and execution of PR plans tied to Visit Orlando programs and events.
  5. Drafts and edits press materials, pitches and other communications in English and Spanish or Portuguese.
  6. Liaises with external Visit Orlando members to gather ongoing information pertinent to publicizing the destination including press information, photography and b-roll video, as well as following up with media coverage updates after press trips.
  7. Works closely with LATAM PR agencies to monitor travel trends, media activity and market insights that may impact visitation and communications.
  8. Uses internal databases to handle media requests, send leads to members, update media lists, and record case notes for media assistance.
  9. Assists in preparation of department reports and presentations as needed. 
  10. Collaborates with cross-functional teams as assigned.
  11. Ensures all communications protect and reflect the Visit Orlando brand.
  12. Maintains a safe and organized work environment and supports additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and 4 years related experience, internships and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ideal candidate is an excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong organizational skills and a drive to meet deadlines; possesses a pleasant demeanor and enjoys being part of a team; and is interested in growing a career in global communications.

Computer Skills

Intermediate skill level with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access or other database system. CMS experience is a plus.


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Spanish or Portuguese proficiency required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
